Museum Mission Statement The Mount Holly Community Historical Museum, an organization of volunteers, aims to enlighten the community with an understanding of its past through the preservation, display, and storage of locally significant historical artifacts and records, and through educational programs. A New Page in HistorySince 1969, the Museum has served the community from a small, seasonal facility on Tarbellville Road, in the village of Belmont. Collections include quilts, linens, clothing, Civil War memorabilia, farm, blacksmith and logging equipment, a former post office, artifacts from former local industries, school house items and a large photograph collection. Historically speaking, the old Blacksmith Shop that the Museum currently calls home is ideal. Practically speaking, the gaps in the walls, cracks in the floor, the lack of running water, and no space for expansion do not a modern museum make. In fact, these circumstances threaten the locally-significant artifacts that are stored there. Alice Perkins Bennett and Todd McCabe wrote a new page in Mount Holly history when, in 2004, they donated their family home to the Museum. The historic Perkins House boasts prime location on the Belmont Green and is integral to the Vermont Village Designation received in 2003. In addition to being a community cornerstone, the Perkins house will become the new home for the Museum. The Blacksmith Shop will continue to serve the Museum in the warmer months, while the Perkins House will become a year-round facility for use by the entire community as:
