| Counterpoint Concert to Benefit Museum
Sunday, June 8th at 4:00 pm Ludlow Town Hall A benefit concert for the Perkins House Restoration Project of the Mount Holly Community Museum will take place at the Ludlow Town Hall on Sunday, June 8 at 4 pm. The concert, sponsored by Aviva Spring Foundation and supported by Harrys, Marions Flower Shop, Grafton Cheese and Crowley Cheese, is directed by Robert De Cormier, a Mount Holly resident. Mr. DeCormier established Counterpoint, an 11 member vocal ensemble made up of Vermont Symphony Orchestra members, in 2000. Over the past 8 years the group has presented concerts throughout the Northeast to much acclaim. They sing a variety of music including folk, African, jazz and classical. Tickets for the event may be purchased at the door or by calling Maggie Blane at 259-2983. Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for students and children under 12 are free. The ticket price includes wine and cheese. In 2003, Alice Bennett and Todd McCabe donated their family home on the Belmont Green to be used as a second site for the expanding Mount Holly Community Historical Museums collections. Since that time the Museum has raised over $300,000 toward this project which is now entering its third phase. All the foundation, basement and exterior work has been accomplished. Phase three includes the interior finishes, a small kitchen, handicapped bathroom, heating, plumbing and electrical work as well as the gallery and display spaces. Fund raisers such as this concert and the annual Festival of Lights wreath auction at the Roundhouse at Okemo, and substantial support from community businesses and individuals are bringing the culmination of the final phase of the restoration project closer to reality. |
